In 1982 the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi entered into the New Abolitionist Covenant, committing to building a peaceful and just world through Prayer, Education, Spiritual Examination (reflection on lifestyle), Evangelism (spreading the gospel of peace), Public Witness, and Nuclear Disarmament.
Recent activities: • Co-sponsoring the annual International Day of Peace prayer service in Milwaukee each September 21 • Annual Peace Walk during which we reflect on places in the Motherhouse complex associated with several of our corporate stands • Participation in peace rallies against the Iraq War
