Lent 2010--The First Four Days

A Path of Contemplation, Conversion, and Commitment

This is an invitation. For some this may be a spring board for meditation, for others a source of insight and for others the beginning or renewal of a mystical relationship with our God. However the Spirit leads you, may you experience peace!

Ash Wednesday
Thursday February 18th
Friday February 19th

Saturday February 20th

The Beginning:

Ash Wednesday February 17th

Joel 2:12 – 18 2 Corinthians 5:20 – 6:2 Matthew 6:1 – 6, 16 – 18 "Brothers and Sister, we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us."
(2 Corinthians)

Help me to realize and put into practice what my Baptismal commitment means - to be an "ambassador".

 Thursday February 18th

Deuteronomy 30:15 – 20
Luke 9:22 – 25

Isaiah 58:1 – 9a
Matthew 9:14 – 15
"This, rather, is the fasting that I wish: releasing those bound unjustly, untying the
thongs of the yoke; …”

Help me to follow Isaiah's suggestion to untie the yoke of hunger in Haiti by prayer and almsgiving.

Saturday February 20th

Isaiah 58:9b – 14
