A Weekend of Activities at the Motherhouse

Posted on: December 6th, 2017 by Jean Merry

On Saturday, December 9, the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi will hold their first OSF Homemade Bakery and Craft Boutique from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Troubadour Room at the Motherhouse, 3221 S. Lake Drive, St. Francis. All items for sale are handmade by the sisters, from bakery, to cards and paintings, to knitted, sewn and embroidered pieces. While browsing, shoppers will have the opportunity to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate, and accompanying children can visit with St. Nicholas and have their pictures taken.

Bakery items include the sisters’ Christmas cookies (baking activities pictured here), their annual one-pound fruitcakes, and stolen. Among the craft items are knitted hats and mittens, scarves, embroidered pillowcases, kitchen towels, hand-woven baskets, acrylic and watercolor paintings, jewelry and more. Only checks and cash will be accepted. All proceeds will go to the sisters’ new convent project.IMG_20171204_133501IMG_20171204_132844
