On August 8, about 50 members of The Chicago Chinese Catholics group participated in a day pilgrimage visiting several churches and chapels in the Milwaukee area, including the chapels the Motherhouse. The pilgrims also stopped at Clare Hall to greet and visit with Sisters Eugenio Chu and Irene Kundinger. Sister Eugenio was able to visit with a woman pilgrim (in lavender dress – center back – with Sr. Eugenio – seated) originally from her own home town in China! Sister Irene discovered many of the pilgrims had gone to or knew of the school where she taught while in Taiwan.
Sister Eugenio is known in Taiwan as a most honored principal and founder of the very first school in Taiwan to teach students with developmental disabilities. Sister Irene Kundinger recently completed 41 years of missionary work ministering to and instructing teachers in Taiwan on how to better work with children who have development disabilities. Sister Leander Liu, who also ministered in Taiwan, helped to welcome and host the pilgrims.
