A new employee event was held on March 16 in Troubadour – a chili cook-off, and 11 cooks participated. Each pot was labeled only with the name of the chili recipe and if it was hot, medium or mild. The Administrative Team did the judging, and then employees were invited to taste.
There were three winners:
1st place: Jesse Valdez (grounds)
2nd place: Carlina Marlowe (nursing)
3rd place: Kristin Jensen (nursing)
The other participants were: Jan Johnson (housekeeping); Heidi Bourne (finance/fund development), Chrissy Blazek (fund development), Sandy Guinta (fund development), Scott Martin (housekeeping/purchasing); Sr. Diane Oman, Kim Bell (nursing) and Barb Gonzales (nursing)
Elizabeth “Buffy” Sobocinski (administrative assistant), tabulated the judges’ results with Heidi Lange (medical secretary). Buffy stated, “I think people really enjoyed it and it might lead to other food competitions like a pie bake-off , cookie swap, etc.”
