Pilgrimage

Pilgrimage

Over the weekend of April 20-21, The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi hosted 25 Sisters and Affiliates of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration (FSPA) from La Crosse, Wis. for a pilgrimage to sites common to their histories. The groups traveled to Jefferson, Wis., to visit St. Coletta of Wisconsin, where the early Sisters from the two congregations served, and the cemetery at St. Lawrence Church in Jefferson, where many of these Sisters are buried. They also visited sites in Milwaukee, including St. Francis Convent and Calvary Cemetery, where the original 1849 tertiaries from Bavaria are interred. To learn more about how the two groups share a common founding, visit the history pages on our website. Both congregations are celebrating their 175th anniversaries in 2024!
