The Leadership Team (from left) Sisters Joanne Schatzlein, Charlotte Roost, and Sylvia Anne Sheldon with Archbishop Grob
The final celebration for the congregation’s 175th anniversary year was held on Wednesday, May 28, at St. Francis Convent. Archbishop Jeffrey Grob presided at the closing liturgy and joined the Sisters and Associates for lunch afterwards. The archbishop congratulated the Sisters on their remarkable history, and thanked them for their service to the church. He personally greeted each Sister in attendance.
The anniversary year has been marked with many meaningful events. The day was a beautiful conclusion to a year of celebration that had the theme, “175 Years of Caring for Others.” Highlights included: an April pilgrimage experience in Milwaukee and Jefferson, Wis., for Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration; a June 23 Mass and luncheon for friends, Associates, corporate ministry leaders, and other congregations; a picnic for Saint Francis De Sales Seminary students in September; a reunion with former members on St. Francis Day in October; and a dinner for current and former staff that was held earlier this year in March.
Congratulations to all on a milestone year and may the future hold many continued blessings for The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi!
