Giving Tuesday is a global movement dedicated to giving back.
For more than 175 years, The Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi have cared for the vulnerable among us, protected the environment, and educated thousands of students. Their service may look different now, but their faith, compassion, and dedication remain unwavering.
Today, there are 100 living Sisters, with an average age of 85. While many Sisters live at our new assisted living facility, Franciscan Shore, over 30 Sisters have chosen to remain in the homes they love. For these Sisters, safety is a growing concern. The Sisters living in these homes often struggle with mobility issues; many must climb steep stairs or maneuver over a bathtub ledge to bathe. Both options can be unsafe and pose serious risks for falls and injuries.
This Giving Tuesday, you can change that.
Your gift will help these Sisters live in place safely through the renovation of bathrooms, adding accessible walk-in showers that have grab bars, slip-resistant floors, and caregiver-friendly layouts. Other improvements include adding handrails, wheelchair ramps, and stairlifts to make their homes safer and more accessible.
These renovations are not luxuries. They are necessary to ensure the Sisters can live safely, independently, and with dignity in their own homes.
Many of our Sisters live in homes where outdated bathrooms and steep staircases put them at risk of falls. With your support this Giving Tuesday, we can install necessary home modifications that will protect the Sisters’ independence.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 and every dollar makes a difference. Join the movement by giving now and helping our Sisters to remain in the homes they love.
