We join our Church throughout the world in mourning the loss of our dear Pope Francis who, like St. Francis, truly lived the Gospel to perfection.
His last words, spoken on Easter Sunday, were prayers for peace in the Middle East and Ukraine, and a call to protect immigrants. In St. Peter’s words from today’s Gospel, that are now realized for Pope Francis, “You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”
He did what was his to do. We call on each other to continue to do what is ours to do.
